Erving is one of only four players to reach the illustrious 30,000 point plateau. Julius Erving was traded to the N.Y. Nets by the Virginia Squires on August 1, 1973. Led by Dr. J, the Nets defeated the heavily favored Denver Nuggets to win the 1975-76 ABA Championship. The ABA and NBA merged on June 17, 1976. Erving's contract was sold to the 76ers on October 20, 1976.
